- Cico 1.0
- by Adam Doppelt
- March 1, 1995
-
- What is it?
- —————————————————
- Cico (pronounced "psycho") converts a Microsft Windows .ICO file to a
- Macintosh icon. There have recently been a couple of requests for such
- a thing.
-
- To Use
- —————————————————
- 1) Drag and drop an .ICO file onto Cico.
-
- 2) The equivalent Macintosh icon is placed on the clipboard. It can
- be pasted onto something using the Finder's Get Info command, or tossed
- into a resource editor for more tweaking.
-
- Caveat Emptor
- —————————————————
- This program was written in a very short period of time. I will be the
- first to admit that it is not perfect. Cico works on my machine and
- the few others I tested it on, but this is no guarantee it will work
- on yours. Not a single call to CopyBits!
-
- Sine Cico is a drag and drop only application, it requires System 7.0
- or higher.
-
- About Cico and Me
- —————————————————
- Cico is freeware. It can be distributed anywhere by anyone, as long
- as this Readme travels with.
-
- I'm currently a sophomore at Brown University. I have been programming
- on the Macintosh for a while, but only recently have I felt my work
- worth releasing.
-
- If you want to see a much nicer application which I have written, check
- out Picon. It was posted to the info-mac ftp site with the following
- description:

- Subject: [*] Picon 1.0; creates custom folder icons
-
- Picon lets you pick an icon for a folder based on the contents of that
- folder. Drag and drop a folder onto Picon and it will let you select
- one of the top ten icons that reside in that folder. These icons can
- be copied verbatim, or optionally "folder-ized" (ala Folder Icon
- Maker).
-
- For example, dragging my plain old Documents folder onto Picon brings
- up a list of icons including the Microsoft Word documents icon, the
- MacPaint document icon, the ClarisWorks text document icon, and
- various other things. I select the MacPaint document icon and check
- "Make Folders" to see what the folderized version looks like. Ah ha -
- looks lovely! Satisfied, I click "Set Icon". The folder now has a
- little MacPaint document icon on the front.
